I am one of the owners and program directors of The INN Utah. I have always been fond of sharing special experiences with those with disabilities. I have family members with special needs and during my junior and senior year of high school at Bingham High School, I was a peer tutor who helped those with special needs. My desire and passion started there and soon after returning home from my LDS Mission I started looking for a job where I could do something that would allow me to engage with those with disabilities.
During my search I came across a job application for USDC. The Utah State Developmental Center. There I landed a job and started working there and loved every second of it. My Brother and I saw the need in the community to do this as a career and wanted to start our own Agency. We opened our first Residential Support Home in West Valley City in August 2023 and provide a variety of services throughout the community. I will always remember the relationships I made at USDC and the amazing opportunity I had to increase my skills and knowledge in providing the best service possible to those with disabilities. Our business, although new, has blessed many of our clients and families lives but it has especially blessed my own. I love what I do and find joy in seeing those we work with live the lives they deserve filled with joy, activity, and fun.
We cherish the relationships we have made so far and look forward to working and providing a better quality of life for those we will continue to have the opportunity to work with. Some of my Hobbies include Playing Volleyball, Watching Movies, Exercising, and Spending time with Family and Friends.
My name is Dallin Malakai and I am the Day Program Director at the INN. I have been working in the care industry for those with special needs for 3 years now and it has changed my life in such a positive way. While working with those with special needs my desire to give them a better quality of life fills my heart. I went to Bingham HIgh School and took Peer Tutoring as well and there we would help fellow students with special needs accomplish their goals. It taught me to be patient and not to judge others. I later went on a Mission for my church to Nuku'alofa Tonga and then to Oakland, California serving those all around me from different walks of life taught me how to better understand, love, and show compassion to others. I started working at USDC, The Utah State Development Center in 2022 and it changed my life. My brother also was working there and we both decided that we wanted to do more and that is what brought us to where we are today.. So as the Day Program Director of the INN I am determined to help those with special needs meet their goals, improve their skills and most of all to fulfill their needs. Some of my Hobbies include Watching Movies, Listening to Music, Spending Time with My Family and Walking My Dog Chapo.
Hey Everyone! I’m OJ Malakai and I am the RHS manager here at the Inn! Yes I share the same last names as the Program Director and Day Program Director, they are my brothers! They introduced me to this kind of work and I love it. I returned home from my mission and that same week I started working here. I consider myself quite lucky to be working with all these amazing people. Every service I have done here for the INN has been an amazing experience. I love serving those with special needs because each one of them has a special spirit where they are serving me as well. My favorite thing to do is spend time with family, bowling, basketball, watching movies, and swimming! As the RHS Manager I’ve had the opportunity and privilege to help those feel as comfortable and safe with the homes they live in. My main goal in this work is to make our RHS homes a safe and enjoyable environment for those who decide to live with us.
This type of work is special and requires personal care, compassion, patience and most of all Love. This has motivated us to become the best care provider possible. With this Agency there will always be room for those in need at The Inn LLC. We hope you consider us when it comes to choosing a care provider who can best care for your family needs. We look forward to working with you.
